Creating a character

To create a character:

  1. Open the Characters panel from the Asset Toolbar.
  2. Select My Assets.
  3. Select Create a Character.
  4. Choose a creation method:
    • Image to 3D to generate a character from a reference image.
    • Text to 3D to generate a character from a written description.
  5. Complete the character creation and rigging workflow in Wonder Tools.

After the character is created and rigged, it automatically appears under My Assets in the Characters panel, ready to be added to your scene.

For the best Image to 3D results, use an image that shows:

  • The character in a T-pose.
  • The character facing the camera.
  • Both palms facing the ground.
  • The full body clearly visible.
  • A plain, solid-color background.

For a character that you plan to rig and animate, use the Wonder 3D model in Image to 3D. Models generated with Trellis 2 do not support rigging.

Character transforms

Character Transforms let you move, raise or lower, rotate, and scale a selected character directly in the Viewport.

Select a character in the Viewport to open its transform controls. Choose a control, then use your mouse to edit the character.

You can select a transform control from the toolbar or use the corresponding keyboard shortcut:

  • Position — 1: Move the character across the ground.
  • Vertical — 2: Move the character up or down.
  • Rotate — 3: Change the direction the character is facing.
  • Scale — 4: Make the character larger or smaller.
